Induction and Computation Working Group

Floris Persiau and I have started running a new working group/reading group on computability theory (with a focus on computable probability theory and the theory of algorithmic randomness), the foundations of inductive learning (probabilistic and non-), and the intersection of these topics.

Our meetings are meant to provide an informal, low-stakes venue for discussing work-in-progress, trying out new ideas, and receiving feedback on one’s research. Graduate students interested in induction and computation, broadly understood, are especially encouraged to participate.

We meet bi-weekly on Thursdays from 12:30pm to 2pm in Baker Hall 145C.

If you are based in Pittsburgh and would like to join us or would like to be added to our mailing list, please send me or Floris a message.
